What is the colloquium program?

The FJA’s Colloquium program serves four important purposes:

• To develop strong relationships between students and individual faculty members;
• To provide a place for the students to learn how to address the many challenges of high school;
• To promote a sense of community among students;
• To provide a faculty liaison between the student and his/her other teachers and his/her parents in connection with academic concerns.

Each student is assigned a faculty member who is his/her advisor and advocate. The advisory group discusses topics critical for success in high school and beyond. Advisory provides a low-pressure, non-threatening time for students to learn about study skills, to understand their own learning style, and to discuss topics of concern to high school students.
