One of the most important research tools in the college selection process is the college visit. This can take three forms:

1. Schedule a visit to a college campus.

2. Attend an information session from a college admissions representative in your local area.

3. Attend an information session held by our own college admissions representative at the Frankel Jewish Academy.

Learning first or second hand about a college is invaluable. When you meet with our college representative at FJA, not only are you learning information about the college, but also you are having an informal interview with the person who will be making the final decision about your acceptance. Do not discount the value of putting a face with a name when representatives are reviewing thousands of student files. College representatives are very busy and college budgets are tight, so it is a real honor when they take their time to visit our school.

The next best thing to a personal information session is a local information session at a hotel or high school. Usually there will be a slide show and general college information as well as specific information about admissions requirements. Although not as personal as a high school visit, you may be able to introduce yourself to the admissions representative. When you apply later, you may mention your visit to show your interest in the school.

If at all possible, try to actually get on the college campus prior to making a final decision. Sometimes the college is too remote to visit unless you have actually been accepted, but getting the feel of the campus, seeing the students and imagining yourself as a student there can make the difference in cementing your decision. If you are able to visit the campus before completing the application process, your expressed interest may factor into your application. In addition, you may be able to set up a personal interview which is often required or highly recommended.

Information about when college representatives are visiting our area or hosting on campus can be found on the College Calendar!
