Academic Program

Each student takes four General Studies classes and three Jewish Studies courses. The General Studies program covers the four major academic disciplines: English, History, Mathematics, and Science. The Jewish Studies program covers Bible, Rabbinics, Hebrew language and literature. Jewish History is taught in the context of General History. In addition to the seven General and Jewish Studies classes, students choose two electives per semester from a menu that includes Foreign Language (Spanish and French), Computers and Technology, Performing and Fine Arts, Athletics, and Study Hall.

Schedule

The school day runs from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm (except on Wednesdays when school begins at 9:30 am). A student's week is built around a Monday schedule (all classes meet that day, each for 40 minutes), a Tuesday & Thursday schedule (half of the classes meet on those two days, each for an 80-minute block of time), and a Wednesday & Friday schedule (the balance of classes meet those two days, each for an 80-minute block). This modified block schedule helps to ensure a more manageable workload and a less frenetic pace for our students. After school, students have the opportunity to participate in interscholastic athletics, a well-developed drama program, and other extracurricular activities. On Fridays, part of one period will be devoted to a town hall meeting, club meetings, guest speakers, or other school-wide student activities. An early dismissal schedule for Fridays takes effect in the winter to allow students to prepare for Shabbat.
